Philosophy

"A great cognac must be the expression of its terroir [...] To make an exceptional cognac, you have to start by carefully growing the best grapes from the best terroir, then you distil the wine slowly on the lees in small stills and wait patiently for many years. There are no short cuts. Making fine spirits takes a lot of time and work, but the result is worth the effort. Biding one's time, not rushing at any stage in the process and drawing inspiration from the work of previous generations while still being able to innovate: all these things form part of our values. When I think of my grandfather, a small Burgundy winegrower for whom the earth was the source of true riches, I believe he would be proud of what we have achieved at Cognac Ferrand."
